STANY voiced strong opposition to two efforts by legislators and regulators to make changes impacting our industry and capital markets this past month.
NJ Financial Transaction Tax- A4402 and S2902
STANY's letter to NJ Governor Phil Murphy and members of the Assembly and Senate of New Jersey in opposition to a state imposed financial transaction tax can be found here. While the tax was not included in the recently signed budget, certain legislators remain interested in an FTT as a way to close budget gaps in the state. STANY has discussed the issue with Senator Tom Kean who leads a caucus opposed to the tax and will remain in contact with NJ legislators to monitor any efforts to institute an FTT.
SEC's Proposal to Amend the Thresholds for Filing 13F Reports
STANY joined our voice to those of hundreds of investors, issuers, traders and industry participants in opposition to the Commission's proposal to modernize Form 13F reports by raising the reporting threshold for institutional mangers from $100 million to $3.5 billion AUM. STANY's comments can be viewed here.
" If there is an issue impacting your business on which you think STANY could be of help, please let us know by emailing me or Kim Unger at [email protected] We are poised to dig deep into issues affecting our markets and are happy to consider suggested regulation or legislation upon which to voice our members' opinions. Let's open a dialogue–tell us how we can help." James Hyde, STANY President

STANY is a proud sponsor of Wall Street Rides FAR benefiting autism research and the Autism Science Foundation. Our team, including board members Patricia Koetzner, Jeffrey Janker, and Tim Nersten, will ride "virtually" on October 3rd to raise money for the cause. Congratulations to team captain and Past STANY President, Patty Koetzner, who has been awarded the second annual Wall Street Rides FAR Yellow Jersey, given to the individual who best embodies the ethos of the event.
"This is a tremendous honor and I am extremely grateful. However, it’s the tireless efforts of Bryan and Melissa that make this all possible. I will be wearing the Yellow Jersey on Saturday along with some teammates. Thank you again and good luck with the final fundraising push into Saturday." Patty Koetzner, Siebert, Williams, Shank
